Montreal’s Jewish community was invited to commemorate Yom Hashoah on Sunday at the city’s major Catholic religious site. In the past, St. Joseph’s Oratory has hosted a Christian memorial of the Shoah at a French-language celebration of the Eucharist, but the organized Jewish community has not taken part. This year, in conjunction with the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Center and Christian-Jewish Dialogue, Sunday’s memorial includes Christians, Jews, various faith leaders, politicians and members of the wider Montreal community. The executive director of the Holocaust Memorial Center, Ann Ungar, will deliver the keynote address.
