The monument for the martyrs of Sobibor, where the Nazis murdered thousands of Jews, was unveiled yesterday.
Two years of effort were required to put the site in order and build the monument. Trees which the Nazis had planted on the site were uprooted and removed and new trees were planted. The eight-foot high monument is in the form of an imposing sculpture of a mother and a child.
