Mordecai Dubin, noted Jewish leader in Latvia and former member of the pre-war Latvian Parliament, died about three months ago in a slave labor camp in Siberia, it was learned here today by the Agudas Israel of America. He was 67 years old.
Mr. Dubin was a prominent Orthodox Jew and president of the Jewish Community in Riga. He was largely instrumental in rescuing the Lubavitcher Rebbe from Soviet Russia in 1927. He was last heard of in Lemberg in 1945 where he was arrested by the Soviet authorities and deported to Siberia.
