More and more Budapest Jews are being drafted for use as slave labor – many with the Hungarian forces on the Eastern front – according to a Nazi Transocean news agency dispatch today from the Hungarian capital.
Additional classes of persons “regarded as Jews” are to be called up between April 27 and May 13, the Transocean report stated. From reports reaching here recently, it is estimated that more than a quarter of a million Hungarian Jews have been conscripted for service building military reads and fortifications in Russia. Thousands of these have died from hunger and mistreatment.
