Twenty-three percent of the Canadian people sympathize with the Arab case in Palestine, while only 19 percent favor the Jewish side and 58 percent have no particular sympathies, according to a Gallup Poll whose results were released here today.
A special section of the survey, dealing with the province of Quebec, where anti-Semitic propaganda has been particularly rife, disclosed that 30 percent of the population favored the Arabs, 15 the Jews, while 55 percent were “neutral.” The pro-Arab sentiment is being nurtured by a large part of the press, said to be inspired by the British Information Bureau, in an attempt to force the government to reverse its attitude on the partition of Palestine.
