More than 100 Jewish professionals from federations and social service agencies across the country met for two days in New York to discuss the future of refugee resettlement in the United States. The conference, which began Sunday under the sponsorship of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society and CLAL, the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, took place as the number of Jewish refugees from the former Soviet Union declines and Jewish communities decide how to allocate the resources set up for their resettlement.
