The noon mass, held Sunday at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, came in response to Pope Benedict XVI’s call last Friday for Catholics around the world to observe Sunday as a special day of prayer for peace in the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon.
