More than 200 alumni of Russia-based Birthright Israel trips in 2008 met near Moscow.
The group gathered to reinforce the participants’ connections to Israel.
Alumni groups presented projects under the banner “My Next Meeting With Israel,” discussing their impressions of Israel and how they viewed their relationship to the Jewish state.
Attendees heard lectures from the defense attache of the Israeli Embassy in Russia, Vadim Leiderman, Russia’s Jewish Agency head Chaim Ben Yakov and Russian-Jewish businessman Mikhail Gurevich.
Hundreds of Russian youth take advantage of free Birthright trips each year through a program coordinated by Hillel Russia called “A Meeting With Israel.” Last weekend’s seminar was focused on the State of Israel and its relation to the Diaspora.
The trips take place in the late winter and over the course of the summer with a follow-up seminar held in the fall.
