Henry Morgenthau, Jr., general chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, was installed last night as chairman of the Board of Governors of the Hebrew University at a special reception at the King David Hotel.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Premier David Ben Gurion, Minister of Labor Golda Myerson and other prominent personalities in the Israel Government who congratulated Mr. Morgenthau on his appointment.
Mr. Morgenthau presented to Dr. Selig Brodetsky, president of the University, the original manuscript of Albert Einstein;s unified field theory. Prof. Brodetsky, Dr. M. Smoira, vice-chairman of the board, and others spoke, welcoming Mr. Morgenthau. In his reply, Mr. Morgenthau expressed the hope that the Hebrew University would soon be returned to its home on Mt. Scopus and that the University, the Weizmann Institute and the Haifa Technion would be united in one great center of learning.
