A rabbi in a small Moroccan town was accused today of “Zionist activities” by Al Alam, the organ of the Government party, Istiqlal. The newspaper asserted that Rabbi Bengio Haim of Arzila had made a number of trips to Gibraltar “to establish contacts with the World Zionist Organization.” The newspaper did not report the rabbi’s denial of the charge and his statement that he made the trips to slaughter cattle for kosher meat for Jews in Gibraltar.
