A delegation of Moroccan rabbis will travel to France this week to express the loyalty of Moroccan Jews to Sidi Mohammed ben Youssef, deposed Sultan of Morocco, who is expected to be returned to his throne shortly in a French compromise move.
The decision to send such a delegation was taken by a conference of rabbinical leaders held today at Rabat. The deputation to the Sultan will include rabbis from Marrakesh, Casablanca and Fez. With the resignation of the Regency Council today, it became virtually certain that ben Youssef would become Sultan in a very short time.
