MORRIS ROTHENBERG, CHAIRMAN OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE COMMITTEE OF THE ZIONIST ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA, WAS APPOINTED A CITY MAGISTRATE TODAY BY MAYOR LAGUARDIA.
MR. ROTHENBERG WAS NAMED BY THE MAYOR FOR A TEN-YEAR TERM, SUCCEEDING MAGISTRATE SAMUEL KATZ, WHOSE TERM EXPIRED TODAY. HE WILL PROBABLY BE SWORN IN TOMORROW AT THE SUMMER CITY HALL IN QUEENS.
MR. ROTHENBERG WAS PRESIDENT OF THE ZIONIST ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA FOR THREE YEARS. HE BECAME CHAIRMAN OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE COMMITTEE AT THE PROVIDENCE CONVENTION IN 1936, WHEN DR. STEPHEN S. WISE SUCCEEDED HIM AS PRESIDENT. HE HAS BEEN A DELEGATE TO EVERY WORLD ZIONIST CONGRESS FOR THE PAST SIXTEEN YEARS, AND WILL BE A DELEGATE TO THE CONGRESS IN AUGUST AT ZURICH, SWITZERLAND.
AN INDEPENDENT DEMOCRAT, MR. ROTHENBERG HAS NEVER BEEN A POLITICAL CANDIDATE OR HELD PUBLIC OFFICE. HE IS A MEMBER OF THE LAW FIRM OF TELSEY, ROTHENBERG AND YOUNG.
HE IS A GRADUATE OF NEW YORK LAW SCHOOL AND A MEMBER OF THE NEW YORK COUNTY LAWYERS ASSN.
