“Soviet deeds at home fly in the face of their words in Madrid,” the Student Struggle for Soviet Jewry and Union of Councils declared as they reported that 40 participants in the weekly scientific seminar at the home of Dr. Victor Brailovsky were again turned away yesterday by authorities. This is the second Sunday in a row that the gathering of refusenik scholars has been thwarted. Dr. Brailovsky was arrested November 13 on charges of “anti-Soviet slander.” Police stood outside Brailovsky’s apartment and declared no one could enter because of “a funeral” and “the area was being fumigated”. Dr. Brailovsky’s wife Irina was subjected to verbal abuse by the police when she appeared outside her door.
