The Moscow Government will not oppose the establishment of a Jewish State in Palestine if the governments of the United States and Britain decide in favor of the formation of such a state, it was stated today by David Ben-Gurion, chairman of the executive of the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
Ben-Gurion, speaking at a conference of the Mapai, Palestine Jewish Labor Party, in Tel Aviv, emphasized that he made this prediction on the basis of information received by him. He also said that while not opposing the establishment of a Jewish State in Palestine, the Russian government will not permit Russian Jews to emigrate to Palestine.
Palestine Hebrew newspapers today report that Dr. Chaim Weizmann, who was due to arrive here any day from London, has postponed his trip for two weeks because of an invitation from Prime Minister Churchill to meet with him prior to his departure for Palestine. The newspapers also report that Ben-Gurion will soon proceed to Rumania for the purpose of contacting Russian authorities there in connection with the Zionist demand for the establishment of Palestine as a Jewish Commonwealth.
More than 1,000 Jewish immigrants are due to arrive here within the next three days, including 541 who sailed from Rumania aboard the Turkish ship Salahdin chartered by the Jewish Agency, and 434 from Portugal and Spain aboard the SS Guine. Others include Bukahrian Jews who are travelling by rail.
