The joint government-Jewish Agency coordinating body will discuss ways to reduce the number of children of official emissaries abroad who study in non-Jewish public and private schools.
The issue was raised at the weekly session of the World Zionist Organization Executive Monday by Eli Tavin, chairman of the department of education and culture in the diaspora. He claimed that many Israeli youngsters whose parents were sent abroad on government or other public missions do not attend Jewish schools in their local communities. According to the written contract signed by all emissaries these school-age children must be given a Jewish and Zionist education while abroad.
