Moves to Solve Problems of Religious Life

Special consideration will be given to the problems facing religious life on Long Island as a result of the Fourth Annual Convention of the Long Island Branch of the United Synagogue of America which was held at the Beth Israel Community Center, Richmond Hill, with over 100 delegates representing congregations from all parts of the Island. It was also decided to undertake a joint campaign for funds on Long Island for the benefit of the United Synagogue of America and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.

Judge Benjamin Marvin, of Jamaica, was re-elected President of the Organization and the following Vice-Presidents were elected: Mordecai Konowitz, Assistant District Attorney of Queens; Leon Wilner, Rockaway Park; Charles Diringer, Richmond Hill; Louis Appleton, Freeport, and Max Abramson, Flushing. Max Jelline of Flushing was elected Secretary.

The installation of Rabbi Sol B. Friedman as rabbi of the Washington Heights Congregation will take place at the Synagogue, February 12th, at two o’clock.
