Mr. Jacob Botaschanski, the editor of the “Presse” of Buenos Aires, has been arrested on his arrival on the Roumanian frontier from Poland, it is learned here to-day, Mr. Botaschanski was to have delivered a lecture here to-day on the life of the Jews of the Argentine. As soon as he arrived at the frontier he was seized by detectives and placed under arrest. No reason for his arrest was given.
Mr. Botaschanski, who is 38 years of age, was born in Bessarabia, and on the outbreak of the War fled to Roumania, where he was arrested for socialist activity. In 1923 he left for the Argentine, where he has been living since, arriving recently in Europe on a tour of the East-European Jewish settlements.
