Mr. Jesse Straus has been appointed by Mr. Roosevelt, the Governor of New York State, to direct the 20 million dollar unemployment relief fund.

Mr. Straus who is Vice-President of the New York Chamber of Commerce and is connected with a number of important business enterprises, is a son of the late Isidore Straus, who was drowned on the “Titanic”, and a nephew of the late Nathan Straus, the great philanthropist, and of the late Oscar S. Straus, former United Stated Ambassador to Turkey, and the only Jew who has ever been a member of the United States Government.
