Mrs. Bessie Thomashefsky, famed Yiddish actress, widow of Boris Thomashefsky, died here, aged 88. With her husband, she was the costar of the People’s Theatre, which he had founded as one of the first Yiddish theatres in the United States, playing leading roles in many great productions, including Shakespeare, Ibsen and dramas written in Yiddish for them.
