The body of Mrs. George Blumenthal, who died in Paris Monday, will be shipped here for burial it was learned today. Mrs. Blumenthal, wife of George Blumenthal, art patron and philanthropist, was the founder of the American Foundation for French Art and Thought in Paris for which she established 12 annual prizes of $1,000 each.
Together with her husband, who retired from business five years ago, she gave a million dollars to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, donated a $150,000 wing for Mt. Sinai Hospital and contributed $500,000 to the Sorbonne. They were both honored by France with the Legion of Honor. Mr. Blumenthal has been president of Mt. Sinai Hospital for the last 20 years.
