Three major issues that are expected to dominate talks in Washington when Prime Minister Golda Meir and Foreign Minister Abba S.Eban visit that capital later this month are the subject of continuing consultations here with Ambassador Itzhak Rabin and Foreign Ministry experts.
The three questions are the economic aid Israel needs from the United States so that this country can withstand the prolonged state of warfare without all-out war which the Arab states have now decided to wage against Israel; the arms necessary to enable Israel to maintain the qualitative superiority which its government regards as the greatest deterrent to all-out war, and the ticklish question of how to prevent an erosion of the American stand on the Middle East situation, if progress toward peace is not made and the present state of affairs drags on for a long time.
