A threat made recently by Premier Golda Meir at a closed meeting that she would resign if high-level government discussions continue to be leaked to the press was promptly leaked to the press. According to an article in Maariv, Mrs. Meir told the meeting, “I will have to resign if this continues. It is impossible to work in this way. I cannot be in such a government.” Proposals to prevent leaks, according to the report leaked to the press, included introduction of shadowing newsmen and ministers, increased censorship in newspapers and security watches.
