The annual United Israel Appeal campaign for Argentina opened here last night at a mass rally attended by 15,000 persons and featuring as speakers Mrs. Vera Weizmann, widow of Israel’s late President, Israel Minister of Health Joseph Serlin and Israel Minister to Argentina Arieh Kubowi.
Speakers at the meeting praised the aid given Israel and the Jews by Argentine President Juan Peron. It was reported that the United Israel Appeal in 1953 raised 27 percent more funds than in 1952.
