Approximately 1,000 municipal employees went on strike today demanding that their salaries be doubled in view of the fact that prices of various commodities have risen more than 150 percent.
Nineteen Jewish youths were graduated today from the Haifa Nautical Institute, the first and only Jewish school of its kind in the world. At the ceremonies marking completion of a four-year course of study, eight of the students received certificates as engineers, four as radio operators, three as navigators and four as shipbuilders. A parade and a flag-raising ceremony preceded the graduation exercises, Representatives of the Palestine Government and Jewish institutions attended.
