The Nazi murder of 110,000 Dutch Jews during the occupation of Holland was memorialized here in connection with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the liberation of the country from German occupation. The remnant of this city’s once large Jewish population held a memorial service in the ancient Sepha### Synagogue here.

A new stone facade for the house here in which philosopher Baruch Spinoza lived from 1671 to 1677 will be set up to replace the old stone one which was destroyed by the Germans in World War II. In front of the Spinoza home is a statue of the philosopher seated in a chair.
