The program for the seventeenth annual convention of the New Jersey Federation of Y.M.H.A.’s and Y.W.H.A.’s which takes place in Atlantic City Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-14, was announced today by E. J. Londow, field secretary for New Jersey for the Jewish Welfare Board. Felix Fuld, Newark philanthropist, will deliver the presidential message and preside at the opening session.
One of the important topics to come up for consideration will be a conference on the question of “Financial Support of Jewish Centers” which will include discussion on the relation of a Jewish Center to a Jewish Federation and also to the Community Chest. Other conference topics will include: “The Jewish Center as a Jewish Influence,” the “Jewish Cultural Program of the Jewish Center” and “The Jewish Center in Relation to Jewish Life,” the latter topic to include Community Development, Jewish Education and Religions Institutions.
Dr. Solomon Lowenstein, executive director of the Federation for Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies of New York will be the principal speaker at a luncheon Sunday aternoon.
Elijah Adlow of Boston, former member of the Massachusetts Legislature, was named by Governor Alvin T. Fuller Special Justice of the Boston Municipal Court. This is the second Jewish appointment to the Bench made by the Governor this year. Mr. Adlow was the Governor’s spokesman when he served in the legislature. The Governor’s Council will soon meet to act on the confirmation of the appointment. Last year he was candidate for the position of Attorney General of the State but was defeated in the primaries.
