The $1,000,000 mark has been passed by the New York Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies in its campaign to raise $1,778,000 for the completion of its $5,300,000 program for 1928. Samuel D. Leidesdorf, Associate Chairman of the campaign, said that the Federation had $3,522,000 in annual subscriptions at the opening of the drive. Toward the balance needed, $1,003,000 has been reported and $775,000 must still be raised to mee the needs of the ninety-one constituents institutions for this year.
An additional gift of $7,000 from Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hofheimer, bringing their total contribution for the year to $10,000 was announced. Other large contributions were: Paul Baerwald, $6,000; Irving H. Isaacs, $5,000; Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Lichtenstein, $4,750; Leopold Stern, $4,500, and $4,000 each from Walter A. Hirsch, Isaac D. Levy, Bubell Brothers, Mrs. Regina V. G. Millhiser, Alfred S. Rossin, Louis F. Rothschild and Jack W. Schiffer.
