Forty-one candidates from 19 countries, including Israel, will compete for prizes in the sixth annual Dimitri Mitropoulos Music Competition sponsored by the Women’s Division of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York. The competition will be held in New York from January 8 to 29, and is open to conductors between the ages of 20 and 33.
The four first prize winners will receive the Gold Medal award and a cash prize of $5,000, plus one-season engagements with either the New York Philharmonic or the National Symphony Orchestra.
