Wide progress in the elimination of discrimination in employment in New York State was reported to Gov. Thomas E. Devey by the State Commission Against Discrimination, after eight months of administering the state F.E.P.C. law.
The report states that the law “has been demonstrated to be both wise and workable and is an effective instrument for combating discrimination in the field of employment.” The Commission further declared that the elimination of such bias “must be the result of untiring effort, not only in the enforcement of the statute, but in a program of education” designed to develop and increase good-will and a spirit of cooperation.
