Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun, founded in 1872 as an Orthodox Jewish congregation, will launch the celebration of its Centennial Year at a convocation of 1000 members on Sunday. Three generations of one rabbinic family have served in the ministry of the congregation throughout the past 66 years.
Rabbi Moses Z. Margolies served as Senior Rabbi for 31 years. He was followed by his assistant and grandson by marriage. Rabbi Joseph H. Lookstein, the current Chancellor of Bar-Ilan University and vice-president of the Synagogue Council of America. The Associate Rabbi of the congregation is Rabbi Haskel Lookstein. the great-grandson of Rabbi Margolies. He serves also as the principal of the Ramaz School, the day school which is sponsored by Kehilath Jeshurun.
Netherlands Foreign Minister Norbert Schmelzer, will visit Israel June 10-14 and Egypt June 14-18. in accordance with the Dutch policy of maintaining good relations with Israel and Egypt.
