A large number of Talmud Torahs of Greater New York, some of them the leading institutions of their kind, have informed the Jewish Education Association that they have adopted the policy of employing licensed teachers only, according to an announcement by Bernard Semel, honorary secretary of the association. The schools have acted on their own initiative and will, it is stated, inaugurate the new policy beginning with the approaching school year.
Licenses to qualified teachers of Hebrew schools are now being approved by the Board of License, recently organized, and will be issued shortly.
