The New York University Institute of Hebrew Studies today announced the establishment of a $1,000 annual award for the best book written in Hebrew dealing with the Hebrew language literature or culture. To be known as the Irving and Bertha Neuman Prize, the award was financed by the I. and B, Neuman Foundation. Irving Neuman had been a New York builder and realtor for more than 30 years.
Professor Abraham I. Katsh, director of the Institute, will head a four-man committee that will judge all entries. Any scholar in the United States or Israel will be eligible for the award.
