Students at two girls’ schools and one boys’ school in Nablus went on strike today to protest alleged persecution of El Fatah terrorists by King Hussein of Jordan. It was the first student strike in Nablus not directed against the Israeli occupation and was apparently motivated by reports that the Arab commandos were having trouble with the Amman regime. Travellers returning from Jordan said that members of El Fatah and other irregular guerrilla bands are taking shelter in northern Jordan which is under the control of Iraqi units. The travellers reported that Bedouin tribesmen loyal to Hussein have blocked roads to the terrorists and chased them out of the cities.
