Attorney Joseph Statfield, former president of the Allegheny County Bar Association, was today named by Governor John S. Fisher to the place vacated on the bench of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas by the death of Judge Josiah Cohen on June 11th.
A member of the B’nai B’rith, Temple Rodef Shalom, and other organizations, Statfield has gained an enviable reputation as a corporation lawyer here. He will hold office until elected or his successor chosen in the elections in the fall of 1931.
In 1914 Statfield was appointed city solocitor by Joseph G. Armstrong, former mayor, but refused the office because of his law practice.
