President Nasser of the United Arab Republic was reported today to have indicated to United Nations Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold his willingness to permit passage of Israel cargoes through the Suez Canal, provided the shipments were kept secret and sent on intermediate carriers rather than ships chartered by Israel for that purpose.
These conditions were outlined by Nasser to Mr. Hammarskjold during their talks in Cairo last week on the Suez Canal blockade of Israel cargoes, according to information circulating here on Mr. Hammarskjold’s report on the talks. The report was received by the Israel Government Monday. Israel officials remained silent on the Hammarsk-jold report.
