Nasser’s clandestine radio station. “The Voice of the Arab Nation,” broadcast an attack on President Johnson and the United States. Inciting the Arabs “to fight against Israel’s Jordan River irrigation project,” the Egyptian radio station declared:

“The people will not allow Johnson to interfere in the affairs of Arab soil. Palestine is for the Arabs and not for Johnson. The Arab people are a burning fire which will consume the enemies of the Arab nation. We will not fear the Sixth Fleet. We are stronger than America and its Sixth Fleet.”
