Nathan Stolnitz, the dean of Canadian cantors and author and contributor to Yiddish, American-Jewish and Argentine-Jewish newspapers, died in Miami Beach where he was vacationing. He was 75. Cantor Stolnitz was born in Vilna, Russia and settled in Toronto in 1926. He founded the Ontario Cantors Association and was associated with Yivo, the Canadian Jewish Congress and the Toronto Jewish Public Library. He was the author of “Music in Jewish Life,” published in 1957 and “On Wings of Song,” published in 1968. He was Toronto correspondent for the Day-Journal, the New York Yiddish daily, under the pseudonym of A. Vilensky.
