A nation-wide campaign against the British White Paper will be launched here tomorrow evening at a mass-meeting at Carnegie Hall marking the 26th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. The principal speakers at the meeting, Dr. Abba Hillel Silver and Dr. Stephen S. Wise, will demand the opening of Palestine for Jewish immigration and the reconstitution of Palestine as a Jewish Commonwealth.
In a statement issued today, the Zionist Organization of America, which arranged the meeting, said: “Under the terms of Chamberlain’s White Paper, the gates of Palestine will close to Jewish immigration on April 1, 1944. This means that in less than six months a ghetto wall will be erected around the Jewish National Home. This cruel and indefensible blow against the Jewish people must be averted. The time has come to fight.”
