A budget of $706,350 for activities on the national level in the year 1955-56 was approved by the board of directors of the National Council of Jewish Women this week-end, it was announced today by Mrs. Moise S. Cahn of New Orleans, president of the 62-year-old educational and social welfare organization. The action took place at the concluding meeting of the board’s annual four-day sessions.
Mrs. Cahn explained that the national budget is additional to some $2,000,000 spent by the 245 Council branches for local health and welfare projects. Representing an increase of $17,600 over last year’s allocation, it is the highest national budget in the organization’s history, she declared. It will cover guidance and service to the public affairs and social welfare programs sponsored by volunteer members locally, and will pay for the organization’s programs of service to Jewish communities abroad.
