The reorganization of the International Council of Jewish Women will be undertaken by the National Council of Jewish Women, it was decided at the annual meeting of the organization’s board of directors, now being held hire.
The board also voted to convene an international meeting in September 1948, either in France, Switzerland or South Africa. Before the war the international council represented Jewish women’s groups in more than 20 countries throughout the world. Organizations in eleven countries of Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas have already expressed interest in its reorganization.
At yesterday’s session, it was announced that 20 students from ten European Countries are now enrolled in graduate schools in American universities on scholarships granted by the National Council. It is contemplated offering ten more scholarships to European Jewish women who will return to their communities after completion of their studies to assist in rehabilitation activities.
