The training of teachers and the improvement of teaching methods in the state of Israel was undertaken by the National Council of Jewish Women through an agreement signed today which provides for the support and expansion of the Department of Education at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Under the terms of the agreement with Hebrew University, announced by Mrs. Joseph M. Welt, president of the National Council, the organization assumed sponsorship of the department — the central non-partisan institution in Palestine for the development of teachers and teaching techniques. Dr. David W. Senator, administrator of the University, and Dr. Eliezer Rieger, head of the Department of Education, represented the Hebrew University in negotiating the agreement.
