The suite of offices formerly occupied by the national headquarters of the Ku Klux Klan was found vacant when Washington correspondents attempted to obtain the opinion of the Ku Klux Klan in regard to the decision of the United States Supreme Court upholding the New York State law against the secrecy of the Klan.
It was stated here, however, that the decision will have little effect on the Klan because the organization last July formally announced it had ended its secret character. Hiram Wesley Evans, Klan leader, who announced the end of secrecy of the order, could not be found here.
The decision upholding the Walker law requiring secret organizations to file membership lists with Secretary of State is, however, considered important because of the precedent which will guide law makers in the future.
