The National Planning Conference for Israel and Jewish Reconstruction, which will be held in Washington from October 27-29, has devised a formula to “guarantee adequate local Jewish community representation” on the steering committee of the conference, which will convene October 26 and will comprise some 280 delegates who will “review major resolutions for presentation to the Conference.” The steering body will also work out rules and procedures for the parley.
Under the formula for communal representation announced today, each welfare fund in communt##s with a Jewish population of more than 40,000 was asked to designate three representatives to the steering committee; communities with a Jewish population of between 15,000 and 40,000 will designate two representatives; and communities with a Jewish population of between 2,000 and 15,000 will name one delegate.
