The National Minorities gained an overwhelming victory in the municipal elections of Kovno, the capital of Lithuania. Election returns made known today, showed that out of the 70 aldermen elected to the City Council of Kovno, 39 seats were obtained by the parties of the National Minorities. Of these

21 elected aldermen are Jews. Previous to election day the Jewish population was split into a number of antagonistic factions, each advocating the election of their own representative. However, the action of the Lithuanian Government in dispersing the meeting of the Jewish National Council, declaring it to be a non-legalized body and the resulting excitement, created a Jewish bond which unified the parties and secured for them a proportionate Jewish representation in the City Council.
