The Kingdom of Jordan will not be included in the round-the-world tour sponsored by the National Education Association next summer, it was revealed here today. The exclusion of the Arab country from the tour followed widespread protests against the inclusion of any country which barred Jews–a practice in which the NEA acquiesced this year.
Bernard Donovan, chairman of the New York City NEA committee, said that the decision to drop Jordan had been taken at an NEA board of directors meeting in Washington. “The NEA has been responsive to our protests, and has eliminated from its itinerary the one nation which refuses entry to American teachers of the Jewish faith,” Mr. Donovan declared.
