The four-day NATO summit conference concluded here today with a communique which revealed that the situation in the Middle East was one of the subjects that came up for discussion during the parley. The portion of the communique referring to the Middle East read:
“We have reviewed the situation in the Middle East in line with the peaceful aims of our alliance. We affirm the support of our government for the independence and sovereignty of states in this region and of our interests in their economic well-being. We believe the stability of this important area is vital to world peace.”
