Instructions were sent today to all branches of the Nazi Lawyers’ Association throughout Germany from the group headquarters here that the secretaries of branches must submit regularly every Friday a report regarding firms where private citizens are still employing Jewish lawyers as counsel. The secretaries were instructed to give the Berlin main office full details, such as the names and addresses of the Jewish lawyers and their clients.
This latest Nazi innovation is calculated to terrorize clients into dismissing Jewish lawyers from their employ. Ultimately this will mean that even Jewish lawyers who are war veterans will eventually lose their practice.
Pola Negri was officially branded as a Jewess today as the Nazis released an official list of Jewish actors and actresses whose films they ruled must not be shown in Germany. The list contained the names of 22 of the most prominent theatrical and motion picture stars, including Max Pallenberg, Richard Tauber, Elisabeth Bergner and Lee Parry. The same list ordered that 118 theatrical directors must be dismissed from positions in Germany because they are Jews.
A resolution to prohibit Jewish shoemakers from working on Saturday and Sunday was adopted today by the Association of German Shoemakers in convention assembled here. This was done, the resolution sarcastically remarked, “in order to give Jews the possibility of observing their religion.”
