Hans Weidemann, Nazi envoy to the Century of Progress, is avoiding the public and is being zealously guarded from the public by German consular officials. He took no formal part in the opening of the exposition, although the Chicago Tribune yesterday printed a photograph of him at the Fair, accompanied by Dr. Allen D. Albert, assistant to Rufus Dawes, president of the Fair.
An attempted demonstration of anti-Hitler groups in front of the German consulate yesterday was dispersed by the police with little disorder, although traffic was tied up. The demonstration was directed against Weidemann’s presence in this city.
