Nazi military authorities in Belgium today issued an order prohibiting Jews from leaving Belgian territory, the Paris radio announced.
The order is aimed at preventing Jews from escaping deportation to Poland by reaching unoccupied France where refugees can still apply for emigration visas to overseas countries. The mass-deportation of Polish-born Jews from Belgium to Nazi-held Poland was resumed last week. It is estimated that about 10,000 Jews have already been deported from Belgium to the Eastern front where they have been placed at forced labor.
