No employee of the postal department in Germany will be promoted unless he can produce a certificate of “pure Aryanism,” the Reich’s Minister of Posts announced today. Even those who have already satisfied the authorities as to their “pure Aryan grandmothers” must once again produce such proof. Germans applying for jobs in the post office must not only prove their own “Aryanism,” but that of their wives also, the minister further ordered. He also issued a demand that all postal employees desiring to marry be required to submit certain proof of the “Aryanism” of their prospective brides.
NO “WHITE BOOK”
German officials charged with preparing a “White Book” on the bloody Nazi purge announced today no book would be issued since, according to them, Chancellor Hitler dealt with the matter in a manner obviating the necessity for further explanation. Thus, while the official list of killings as given to German newspapermen still remains at eight, the Chancellor revealed in his speech trat seventy-seven had been “purged.”
While an uneasy people await the future with misgivings, wondering where and when the “purgers” will strike again, the German press was one chorus of praise for Chancellor Hitler and for his speech. Reich papers also assured their readers that the outside world approved of the Chancellor’s speech.
